My journey towards sanity, peace and light
Dear sisters, I feel like sharing with you my journey towards sanity, peace and light, an ongoing journey which I hope insha Allah only ends with my death, amen.
Until not long ago, I used to work for a major consultancy firm. It was incredible, working sometimes until 2 am, sometimes until 5 am in the morning. One night I actually did not sleep at all.
Prayer was what kept my sanity when working those long hours, how strengthening was to stop and to turn to Allah and ask for the task at hand to be made easy.
I do not advise anyone to work late as I did, except when you get up for Allah, but then the joy is different. You are in front of the Al Vadud (The Most Loving), who loves you more than anyone and who wants to respond to your supplication for forgiveness and fulfil your requests, what better company can you have?
Of course, there were also times when life was better, usually when one project was finished and the other one was about to start. But that was not a balanced life; however that was beautiful nurturing from Allah. I do not regret that experience and I thank Allah for those days also.
Very rarely would I get on time for our beloved teacher’s Sunday evening lectures, whatever I was able to capture were like “diamonds” for me and especially if that was related to the Names and Attributes of Allah SWT. This is when I realised that only by getting to know my Rabb, I could get to know what my Rabb could do for me.
Life changed some months ago, when I decided with the power and strength from Allah that I wanted to be my own boss, i.e. have only to report to Allah, Insha Allah. Alhamdulil’Allah, I started my own business and became an independent consultant, Allah had willed so.
I still enjoy working and do work hard, but not all the time and now I have time also for other constructive endeavours.
This Ramadan for the first time in my life; I did feel some “beautiful rain pouring over my head” in the form of different reminders.
The Parables in the Qur’an made me realise that Qur’an could be a beautiful and patient friend. I started to enjoy spending time reading the Qur’an and noticed that did not feel lonely at all when reading it! I also felt surrounded by peace! Some amazing change was taking place in the depths of my heart. I started to become more independent of people, started to enjoy more the company of our Rabb.
Taqwa, oh my Allah, if you have missed these lectures you have to listen to the recordings! You will forget that you are dealing with people; your dealings will be only with Allah and then Insha Allah you will smile and let it go…
As we learnt with our teacher, being in a “Jamaa” is important and it is beautiful to be part of an organisation which propagates “ Be 1 for ONE in 1 way”
My journey has only started and I have lots to learn, may Allah make it easy for all of us ameen.
To Allah I ask for guidance, firmness and good companionship with sisters like you for the sake of Allah, till the end of my life, ameen.
